![]() The error is probably related to incorrect header files being included. Note however that when I say "errors" I don't mean an error that affects all users. Had to boot into single user mode to revert back to UTF-8. I've also tried to download the 4.2.0 kernel and compile that, but that didn't work either.Įdit: Actually, doesn't that look a bit like some kind of weird error related to UTF-8? The '?' symbols in the C code?Įdit 2: Tried changing to ISO-8859 locale, but that just broke the system - no longer able to even start a terminal. I've tried to completely compile my 4.0.0 kernel from scratch just to make sure there is nothing wrong with the kernel source itself. I've tried to reinstall Kali from scratch, just in case I missed something. Does it include an incorrect header file that has an incorrectly defined struct compared to what it expects to find? Regardless, how do I fix it? tmp/vbox.0/:79: recipe for target 'vboxsf' failed Makefile:1386: recipe for target '_module_/tmp/vbox.0' failed Scripts/Makefile.build:258: recipe for target '/tmp/vbox.0/dirops.o' failed ![]() tmp/vbox.0/dirops.c:135:16: error: ¿struct file¿ has no member named ¿f_dentry¿ # define GET_GLOB_INFO(sb) ((struct sf_glob_info *) (sb)->s_fs_info) tmp/vbox.0/vfsmod.h:144:60: note: in definition of macro ¿GET_GLOB_INFO¿ Sf_g = GET_GLOB_INFO(dir->f_dentry->d_inode->i_sb) tmp/vbox.0/dirops.c:129:29: error: ¿struct file¿ has no member named ¿f_dentry¿ * Execute the install script n.Ĭode: Select all /tmp/vbox.0/dirops.c: In function ¿sf_getdent¿: * Mount the ISO file with mount -t iso9660 -o loop (the Devices -> Insert Guest Additions Image. I have a fresh install of Kali (yes, completely new, I've even reinstalled the OS just to be sure) and these are the steps that I take: There are many guides, tutorials and even videos for how to do this, yet I've spent the past 5-6 hours trying to make this work, and I'm completely stuck even though I'm not a novice user. I'd like to first clarify that this is required to make this work for anyone else reading this, most guides don't seem to mention at all what the end result should be, namely that these two modules vboxguest and vboxsf (at least I don't think there are any other modules involved), and only then will the mount command work when these are loaded. The first module, the "main Guest Additions module" compiles. I'm trying to install the GA (Guest Addons), but this fails when compiling the "shared folder support module", I believe this is the vboxsf module.
